Pioneer Wine House

Gallo came to use with a new wine brand called Pioneer Wine House. We were asked to develop a brand story and design the labels and packaging. The catch? We had to incorporate the history of two musicians named Kohler and Frohling who pioneered wine in California in the mid 1800s—but make it appeal to a modern audience. We drew inspiration from their artistic and entrepreneurial spirit to do just that.

LABEL DESIGN
Each variety of wine represents a different type of art as a nod to Kohler and Frohling’s creative backgrounds: literature, visual arts, music, and philosophy. I wrote the copy and tasting notes on the back label.
